About Tania

There are many different words people have used to describe me and what I do.
Here are a few of them:

Graphic Designer, Identity Consultant, Illustrator, Cartoonist, Graphic Intuitive, Graphic Facilitator, Graphic Recorder, Coach, Consultant, Author, Healer, and now — Symbolist.

I find none of them are useful cocktail party introductions.
I don’t much care for cocktail parties.

The best explanation I have come up with is, “I help people understand who they are and why they are here and communicate that to others using symbols.”

People still don’t have a hook in their neural network to hang that one on, either. So since what I do and how I do it really have to be experienced to be understood, I’ll just go with telling you how I got here:

A Not-So-Brief History

I have always been interested in art. In college I discovered graphic design and decided that I wanted to do that as a career. I was also good at writing and had a particular interest in that which was symbolic or metaphorical.

In 1994, I started a graphic design business called LogoLab and created a specialty niche just designing logos. My husband Alex joined me in the business within a year. During that time I designed over 1500 logos for clients in all 50 U.S. states and 15 foreign countries. I was a machine. I had to create systems and some pretty heavy duty creative muscles to keep up the pace. While it was rewarding, I quickly experienced a number of life changes (a new baby in 1999) that made this no longer do-able as a business model. I really wanted a more interactive and collaborative scenario where I built relationships with my clients.

In 2004, my husband and I split LogoLab and I became Luminosity Studio and he became Brandmother. (The business split helped prevent a relationship split. This creative solution was so remarkable, Comstock’s Magazine made us their cover story in May of 1995.) I proceeded to develop a business of mostly small business owners who wanted a quick solution and a personal touch. They really responded to being able to participate interactively and collaboratively and get a result in one day.

Between 2004 and 2007 I worked extensively to develop my intuitive skills and utilize them in a conscious and deliberate way with my design work. My friendship and eventual business partnership (A+T Consulting) with Ania Brandysiewicz led to an enormous amount of inner work and healing that allowed my intuition to blossom and become a dependable means of connecting with others and communicating symbolically.
