have a seatI believe in utilizing an integrated marketing communications approach. That is, I assist you in sending a clear, consistent message throughout all of your marketing materials. We begin with your name and logo, then work our way through the various materials that are most important to you. Typically, these materials may include business card and letterhead, web-site, brochures, post cards and direct mail pieces, thank you notes, even product packaging.

Another distinguishing characteristic of Luminosity Studio is interactivity and a high level of personal service. Every step of the way we will be involved in a collaborative effort to shape your identity and marketing materials.

Luminosity Studio Mission
My passion is to assist clients in knowing their core identity and communicating that message to their audience with clarity, congruity and consistency.

Method
I have spent 15 years developing the unique system I use to create logo identities interactively with clients.

The Old Way.
Like most other graphic designers and marketers, I created logos that were a form of "image management". I now refer to this as the "beauty pageant" method of creating 5 or more designs and asking my client to pick. That process involved an interview, followed by generating endless renditions of designs and trying to "dress you up" to help you look credible to your potential market. It was a very "externally motivated" process and worked from the outside in. (It could also become frustrating for both me and the client.)

The New Way.
After creating over 1500 unique logos, I became very adept at the drawing skills and the communication skills to create logos for people. However, when I designed my own business identity, I tripped over an entirely new concept — designing from the "inside out". I went through an exercise that divulged 3 words that were at my "core" that described to me and the rest of the world what I was really all about. These words lead to my new business name, my new identity and logo, and everything else I needed to promote my business. Most importantly, the new identity began to attract exactly the kinds of clients I most wanted to work with. I realized that "inside out" identity design was what I most wanted to do.

The key here is to note that I went from being a creator of a business image to an identity consultant. I practiced using the word surveys with clients and was getting better and better results. We were arriving at better solutions and getting to the solutions with fewer renditions. I also learned that when I did the design interactively and collaboratively with the client involved at every step, we got results even faster. And it was much more fun!

The Next Step.
Over the last 3 years, I have been doing a lot of work to improve my listening, intuitive and empathetic skills. As my emotional intelligence skills have improved, so has my ability to guide my clients toward a solution that best suits their needs.

What you will experience as a client is that you will feel intently listened to, understood, and that I have reflected everything you have told me about you and your business back to you in symbolic form. What I find most rewarding, is how many people send their new logo identity out to their friends and clients and get dozens of responses like "it really captured what you're all about." That is the difference between an identity and an image.
